Abide

Abide. It has to do with “being” instead of “doing”.

“Doing” is like reading your Bible, going to church, praying, serving, etc. These are crucial points to increase your walk with God, without them your walk will suffer. But if we are doing these just because we are suppose to or are doing them with our OWN strength we will be missing out on the intimate relationship we need with God.

To abide, we must be in the “being” mode. We are still doing the things God has called us to, but we are doing it in HIS strength this time. The more we are abiding in Him, the more we will be faithful to what he calls us to do. “I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gifts to make you strong – that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith.” Romans 1:11-12. With this, we won’t become works oriented, we will become Christ oriented and have more peace/understanding in our life.

To abide is to experience His presence. To bear patiently; waiting for God to reveal His will and Himself to us. When you begin to reflect on the word “abide” and how through your own time with God, waiting on Him, the faith that you have in your own life seems to expand and spread among those around you, without you even realizing it. That “constant, remaining, still standing” …ABIDING….moments with God can actually build up your faith, move, and encourage those around you!
